Invitation to participate in the thematic axis of the XXIII Colombian Congress on Geography 2019

The Geography Programme at Universidad Externado de Colombia invites those interested to send in their proposals for papers to participate in one of the thematic axes of the XXIII Colombian Congress on Geography: “A geography for peace building”, which will take place from October 22 to 25, 2019 in Bogotá, Colombia.

Proposals may be sent in to the working groups for the thematic axis on political and historical geographies of armed conflict and peace, specifically in relation to the following lines: a) Conflicts over land and territory, b) History of conflict and peace in the regions, c) Territorial dynamics of the implementation of peace agreements, and d) Communities and territories of peace, development and peace with a territorial approach.

Call for applications Academic Collaborator CAPAZ/CEDPAL

With funding from the German Federal Foreign Office (AA), the German-Colombian Peace Institute – CAPAZ, and the Centre for Studies of Latin American Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure (CEDPAL) belonging to the University of Göttingen will implement the project: “Stabilization of Peace in Colombia through Justice and Truth”.

Based within academia, the general objective for the project is to strengthen the Colombian Integrated System of Truth, Justice, Reparation and Non-Repetition.

Those interested are invited to submit their application as candidates for the following position:

Position: Academic Collaborator

Place: Bogotá, Colombia

Duration: 16 months

Inscripciones abiertas para congreso internacional sobre gobernanza de la ciencia y la innovación

El Instituto CAPAZ invita a las personas interesadas a inscribirse al Congreso Internacional “Gobernanza de la Ciencia y la Innovación. Hacia el Desarrollo Inclusivo”, organizado por la Red de Gobernanza y Gestión del Conocimiento, la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación (Red GCTI), el cual tendrá lugar los días 31 de julio, 1 y 2 de agosto de 2019 en Bogotá, Colombia.

Las inscripciones para asistir al evento estarán abiertas hasta el 30 de junio de 2019, a través del enlace a la página web del congreso. El Director Administrativo de CAPAZ, Dr. Carlos Nupia coordina la línea temática titulada: “Ciencia, paz e inclusión”.

El evento es una invitación de la Universidad Externado de Colombia, la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, la Universidad de los Andes, el Observatorio Colombiano de Ciencia y Tecnología y la Asociación Colombiana para el Avance de la Ciencia.

Maestría en Antropología de Universidad del Cauca en Santander de Quilichao

Nos complace compartir la convocatoria de la Universidad del Cauca, miembro asociado del Instituto CAPAZ, para inscribirse a la Maestría en Antropología en el municipio Santander de Quilichao, ubicado al norte del departamento del Cauca. Las clases iniciarán en el segundo semestre de 2019.

La persona coordinadora de la maestría es el profesor e investigador Axel Rojas, quien representa a la Universidad del Cauca en el consorcio colombo-alemán de universidades del Instituto CAPAZ.

Las inscripciones están abiertas hasta el 7 de junio de 2019. Es necesario realizar la inscripción online.

The German Colombian Peace Institute – CAPAZ is pleased to announce the call for funding research projects 2019 on issues related to Peacebuilding in Colombia.


  • To promote the generation, dissemination and exchange of academic knowledge by funding research projects on topics that contribute to Peacebuilding in Colombia.
  • To support German Colombian academic cooperation, and international cooperation in general.


This call is addressed to Colombian and German research groups with cooperation in both countries and working on topics related to peacebuilding in Colombia. CAPAZ will fund six (6) proposals with 5.000 Euros each one. Research projects must be developed from September 209 until June 2020.


Research lines (You can find a detailed description of the research lines in the Terms of Reference):

a) Peacebuilding practices

b) Transitional justice and human rights

c) Peace, conflict, and territorial reconfiguration


The deadline for proposals submission is on Monday, July 22th 2019 at 11:00 pm (23:00) in Colombia.

Call for courses on drugs and drug policy in the Andean Area

The Centro de Estudios sobre Seguridad y Drogas (CESED) at Universidad de los Andes invites those interested to participate in the call for applications for the course on drugs and drug policy in the Andean Area, co-financed by the Open Society Foundation.

The purpose of the course goes beyond raising awareness of the issue among people who work specifically on drug policy. It is also intended, based within different disciplines, to analyse the different aspects of illicit crops, the drug policies of the Andean countries and Mexico, the lessons learned and the challenges that persist.

Registration deadline: 25 May 2019.

Selected participants will be informed as of May 31, 2019, through a letter of admission to the programme. For the selection of half scholarship applicants, in Colombia, priority will be given to people from regions, indigenous people and Afro-descendants. Those interested in obtaining a scholarship should complete the online form available.

Call for the submission of applications to participate in CAPAZ Summer School 2019 in Berlin

The German-Colombian Peace Institute – CAPAZ and Freie Universität Berlin open a call for the submission of applications to participate in the CAPAZ 2019 Summer School: “an exclusionary peace? Peacebuilding in contexts of inequality” to be held on September 23-27, 2019 in Berlin, Germany.

The invitation is open to MA and PhD students in Germany and Colombia, and to peace builders who wish to present their research work, exchange knowledge and experiences of peacebuilding in Colombia, and learn about German practices related to the School’s four thematic axes: territoriality, justice, democracy, and memory.

The CAPAZ 2019 Summer School will cover the academic, food, and accommodation costs for nine (9) students and five (5) multipliers for peace from Colombia.


Call closure: Monday, April 15, 2019

Selection process: until Wednesday, May 15, 2019
