CAPAZ participates in a dialogue on art and memory as part of the HAWAPI 2018

The CAPAZ Institute is pleased to invite to the discussion “Catalizadores de la memoria” (Catalysts of memory) as part of the academic programme of the exhibition HAWAPI 2018 on Thursday March 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

The event will take place at the Casa Museo Jorge Eliécer Gaitán (Calle 42 No. 15-52) in Bogotá, Colombia and is organized by the CAPAZ Institute, HAWAPI 2018 and the Museum Division of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Admission is free.

Based on the experience from HAWAPI 2018 in the Training and Re-incorporation Zone Amaury Rodríguez (Espacio Territorial de Capacitación y Reincorporación, ETCR) located in Pondores (La Guajira, Colombia), the discussion will focus on how art collaborations and works can be generated in the memory construction processes in the communities.

In November 2018, HAWAPI had its sixth edition, its first one in Colombia, at the Espacio Territorial de Capacitación y Reincorporación (ETCR) Amaury Rodríguez in Pondores (La Guajira, Colombia).

Pondores is a small town of approximately 250 inhabitants, most of them former FARC-EP combatants. Eleven artists stayed in Pondores and carried out art works and cultural activities around on the peace process in Colombia and the current situation in the ETCR.

On February 16, 2019, HAWAPI opened the collective exhibition “HAWAPI 2018 – Pondores” at Espacio El Dorado in Bogotá, Colombia. This exhibition brings together original works by national and international artists generated from their experiences and the work done during the residency at ETCR.
