JANUS group lecture series begins with CAPAZ support

El ciclo de conferencias es organizado por el grupo Janus con apoyo del Instituto CAPAZ y se desarrollará entre abril y mayo de 2021.

“Post-agreement dilemmas in Colombia” is the title of the series of online conferences organised by JANUS, the group of interdisciplinary studies on conflict and peace, attached to CAPAZ founding institution, Universidad del Rosario.

The panels will be open to the public, and will take place on Wednesdays from April 7 to May 5, 2021, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm (Colombia time). Interested parties can join the sessions via live webcast at Facebook Live: @InterculturalidadUR

The series of conferences is supported CAPAZ, the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (ICANH), CINEP, and the UNESCO Chair in Education and Culture for Peace at Universidad del Rosario.

Programme:

April/2021:
7 – Negotiation and peacebuilding
14 – A powerful peace and the regions
21 – Environment, Conflict and Peace
28 – Social organisations: caught between violence and peace

May/2021: 
5 – Experiences of indigenous women in Peru and Colombia on violence (panel and discussion with Quechua women and women from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta).

National and international panellists:

CAPAZ Academic Director, Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters will take part as a panellist on April 28; and CAPAZ Science Collaborator Juliana González Villamizar will be one of the moderators on May 5, on the experiences of indigenous women in Colombia and Peru panel.

Some of the guests invited to the panels have participated in previous CAPAZ-organised activities and events and are linked to its founding or partner universities. They include, Luis Fernando Trejos (Universidad del Norte); Laura Camila Barrios, Ángela Santamaría and Jairo Baquero (Universidad del Rosario), and Diana Gómez (CIDER, Universidad de los Andes).

The series of conferences will also bring together experts from the Colombian universities Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Universidad del Valle, and institutions such as Fundación Ideas para la Paz, CINEP and ICANH.

Pasha Bueno Hansen (University of Delaware); Julie Massal (French Institute of Andean Studies-IFEA); Luis Peña Reyes (Friedrich Schiller University Jena) and Sarah Zukerman (Columbia University) will be joining us from international universities.
