The Truth Commission in the face of the pandemic: Regional and community challenges
Audes Jiménez González is the Territorial Coordinator of the Colombian Truth Commission for Atlántico, Norte de Bolívar and San Andrés. As part of her responsibilities, she is involved in the adaptation process that commissioners and other territorial representatives like her have had to assume in order to comply with the Commission’s mandate, in the established times and under the difficult conditions posed by COVID-19.
For decades, she has worked hand in hand with ethnic communities in this part of Colombia. Today, she is a first-hand witness of the communities’ needs, in the midst of the health emergency.
Audes Jiménez stars in the fourth episode of the CAPAZ web video column: “La paz, ahora más que nunca” (The peace, now more than ever). The episode is called: “La Comisión de la Verdad ante la pandemia: retos regionales y comunitarios” (The Truth Commission in the face of the pandemic: Regional and community challenges).
The fourth instalment of the CAPAZ web video series highlights the challenges faced by the Commission and its territorial links in its daily work with communities and victims. For it is not only public health that has to be guaranteed, but also work, subsistence. Life.
In line with the previous episode, featuring the guest speaker Juliette Vargas with her commentary on the work of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), this new episode follows up on the reflection on the workings of the components of the Comprehensive System in times of COVID-19.
Every Tuesday CAPAZ launches a new episode of its online video-column that follows the path towards peace in Colombia, during the pandemic.
