Flyer of the second session of Cátedra UIS-CAPAZ

The second part of the Peace, Coexistence and Citizenship course will be held at Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) in Bucaramanga (Agora Auditorium of the Faculty of Human Sciences) on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. The title of the new session is “Memory, silence and (non-)memory“.

The guest experts include CAPAZ Academic Director and professor at the Justus Liebig University Giessen Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters, and Daniel Castillo, researcher at the UIS and the Archivo Oral de Memoria de las Víctimas (AMOVI).

The second part of the course will address the other side of memory, that is, (non-)memory and silence in its various forms, as well as the current approaches to (non-)memory and its contribution to peace and reconciliation.

By emphasising the concept of (non-)memory, this session links memory studies with studies on social inequalities and emphasises the power relations that are manifested in memories as much as they are in silence and (non-)memory.

The course Cátedra de Paz is an initiative of Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) -one of the CAPAZ associate members-, specifically the Academic Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the School of Economics and Administration, and the Archivo Oral de Memoria de las Víctimas (AMOVI), and is supported by CAPAZ. The course begins on September 27 and ends on December 13, 2019.

We share the streaming of the second session (On the Facebook Profile of the  UIS).
