PRESENTATION OF THE COMMENTARY ON THE AMNESTY LAW

PRESENTATION OF THE COMMENTARY ON THE AMNESTY LAW

The presentation of the commentary on the Amnesty Law, a publication edited by researchers Kai Ambos and Gustavo Emilio Cote Barco, took place on Tuesday 28 May 2019 at the premises of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace – JEP in Bogotá.

The event included a dialogue with the editors, former Colombian Minister of Justice Yesid Reyes Alvarado, and was moderated by Marie-Christine Fuchs, Director of the Rule of Law Programme for Latin America at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The President of the JEP, Patricia Linares, also participated.

The conversation was attended by JEP staff, academics from the legal field, students and people interested in the learning about the complete and systematic commentary on Law 1820 of 2016 or Amnesty Law in Colombia, published by the Rule of Law Programme for Latin America of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and CAPAZ.

CAPAZ recently published the document, Policy Brief 3-2019, with recommendations on the benefits of this law and some of the difficulties in its implementation, by the same editors of the commentary.

This brief document provides a broader public with the technical-legal terms in the form of a conclusion and recommendations, formulated by both researchers on the aspects outlined in the Policy Brief.
