CAPAZ at the International Seminar on Knowledge Diplomacy

CAPAZ at the International Seminar on Knowledge Diplomacy

Prof. Dr. Thilo Marauhn participated at the International Conference “Knowledge Diplomacy – Linking Science, Education and Cultural Diplomacy” on October 26 in Brussels. Prof. Marauhn is the coordinator of the German Consortium of CAPAZ and representative of the CAPAZ Institute vis-à-vis the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, in German).

In his presentation “Main activities and challenges of the Colombian-German Institute for Peace (CAPAZ)”, Prof. Marauhn described in detail the activities of CAPAZ, its summer and winter schools, the structured and exploratory projects and future challenges. CAPAZ was one of five projects from the DAAD Portfolio presented at the conference. Other projects exist e.g. in Iran or Russia.

The seminar was organized by the DAAD with support from the German Permanent Representation to the European Union. More than hundred participants were discussing German and European approaches of integrating science, education and culture into a foreign cultural and education policy.

CAPAZ is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and financial resources provided by the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt).

At the seminar in Brussels, the existence of CAPAZ and other DAAD projects have demonstrated the significance of knowledge diplomacy and the important role of international cooperation. It is necessary that different actors such as universities, academics, artists and other relevant actors from civil society are participating in this cooperation.
