ColombiaCONNECT is a German-Colombian cooperation network that promotes the fair and sustainable use of biological resources, of which the CAPAZ is a member. The network’s second workshop was held this month in Frankfurt.

The meeting was hosted by the Senckenberg Nature Research Society, the University of Giessen and the Fraunhofer Institute IME, which offered participants the opportunity to review the progress of their projects and advance in conversations about the meanings and challenges of environmental sustainability, and the exchange and social appropriation of knowledge.

The event was attended by representatives of the network members (University of Giessen; CAPAZ; CEMarin; Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Bioresearch; Senckenberg Nature Research Society;Taller ColombiaCONNECT Franfkfurt Fraunhofer IME and EFTAS), as well as by experts in the field of biodiversity including Mónica Puyana, full profesor and researcher at Utadeo; Juan Armando Sánchez, full profesor and researcher at Universidad de los Andes and member of Misión de Sabios; Andrés Franco Herrera, academic vice rector and director of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Utadeo and member of Misión de Sabios; and César Abadía associate professor in the Department of Anthropology and the Institute for Human Rights at the University of Connecticut.
