The University of Giessen presents CAPAZ Institute at the SGroup European Network

Ms. Julia Volz, the director of the International Office of the Justus-Liebig University of Giessen (JLU in German) will present her speech “Case study: Cooperation of Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) with partners in Colombia – a contribution to peace” at the General Assembly of the SGroup European Universities Network, on November 10, 2017.

Ms. Volz’s speech will open the session “Global engagement of universities”. The program of the assembly focuses this year on the Social Responsibility of Universities. The SGroup Network consists of European institutions of higher education that are following four strategies: internationalization, academic collaboration, academic mobility, and knowledge transfer.

Ms. Volz will introduce the long-term cooperation between the JLU and Colombia, the strategic partner country in Latin America. Her presentation also highlights the German-Colombian Institute for Peace CAPAZ as an institute for research, study and advisory, which aims to provide expertise on important questions relating to peace research, coming to terms with the past/culture of memory, conflict prevention and the development of a post-conflict society. The Julius Liebig University of Giessen coordinates the Colombian-German consortium of universities of the CAPAZ Institute and is one of the thirty universities which compose the SGroup Network.

The assembly is held by the University of Ghent, Belgium until the 11 November 2017.
