Angelika Rettberg new member of the negotiating team with the guerrilla ELN
Professor Angelika Rettberg was appointed by the government of the President Juan Manuel Santos as a new member of the Government negotiating team with the ELN guerrilla in Quito, Ecuador.
Angelika Rettberg holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Boston, United States. She is professor at the Political Science Department and director of the Master program in peacebuilding at the Universidad de Los Andes, one of the Colombian founding institutions of the CAPAZ Consortium.
She has been the representative of Los Andes University in the Consortium conformed by Colombian and German institutions. During the recent Winter School CAPAZ 2017 professor Rettberg taught on the issues of peacebuilding and territorial peace.
Angelika Rettberg will represent the Colombian government in the negotiations at Quito, Ecuador together with Gustavo Bell, Socorro Ramírez, major generals Freddy Padilla and Carlos Rojas, Alberto Fergusson, José Noé Ríos and Alejandro Reyes Lozano.
Professor Rettberg’s nomination demonstrates the significance of academics’ contribution to the peace negotiation agenda at the national level.
