From green recovery to peace: a podcast with Stefan Peters and Brigitte Baptiste

From green recovery to peace is a podcast born from a joint initiative of the German and Colombian Ministries of Environment. It is intended to exchange experiences and knowledge between the two countries in order to establish an alternative perspective on the issue of sustainability and thereby find the path to peace.

The second chapter of this podcast is called, Biodiversity for peace. We invited CAPAZ Academic Director Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters and Brigitte Baptiste, Director of Universidad Escuela de Administración y Negocios in Bogotá, to discuss the relationship between inequality, deforestation, the wellbeing of Colombian ecosystems, and peace building. “Biodiversity is fundamental for the peace process in Colombia because it creates a synergy between rural and urban communities and the functional processes that provide ecosystem services to the whole world”, said the researcher. Dr. Peters added that “if we want a more sustainable economic model, if we want more social justice, we need peace. There is no alternative. We need to think of new ideas about how we want to live”.
