Peace and conflict resolution in rural areas: challenges for the implementation of the UNDROP declaration

This conference addresses the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP) and examines the context of conflict resolution in rural areas. Theoretical and practical approaches to overcoming current rural conflicts in the Global North and South will be discussed.

The conference will take place on November 17 and 18, 2022 at Historische Sternwarte (Geismar Landstraße 11, 37083 Göttingen).

It will include presentations on the social, economic, and political rights of rural people; the safety of rural movement leaders; gender justice; land rights; biodiversity and a healthy environment; food security; and the role of the state, UN agencies, and rural movements.

CAPAZ Academic Director Stefan Peters will speak on the “Social, economic and political rights and safety aspects of peasant leaders” panel on November 17.
