Fifth session of the UIS Chair on women’s participation and the gender approach

The Chair for Peace, Coexistence and Citizenship at Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) will hold its fifth session entitled “Women’s Participation and Gender Focus” on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the Ágora Auditorium of the School of Human Sciences at UIS in Bucaramanga.

The speakers for the session will be CAPAZ Science Collaborator, Juliana González Villamizar, Mg. with a BA in Philosophy and Selene Margarita Ariza Ortiz, Mg. with a BA in Psychology and who is part of the Mobile Research Team of the Commission for the Clarification of the Truth in the Insular region of the Caribbean.

The session will cover the main milestones in the participation of women and their organisations in the peace process with the FARC-EP and their background in the long struggles of the women’s and LGBTI movements in Colombia.

Discussions will also be held on the materialization of efforts to build a gender perspective in the framework of peace negotiations, as well as in the ongoing work of the agreed transitional justice instruments, especially in the Commission for the Clarification of Truth, Coexistence and Non-Repetition.

This is a CAPAZ supported UIS initiative, implemented through its Academic Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the School of Economics and Administration and the Oral Archive of Memory of Victims (AMOVI). UIS is a CAPAZ associate member.
