Researchers from the University of Freiburg and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana hold a summer school as part of the project “Improving the mental health of displaced populations to urban areas of Colombia”. The summer course focuses on operational research in the field of psychosocial care for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The summer course will be held in the city of Valledupar, capital of Cesar, from August 16 to 22 2018. It is expected the participation of 22 assistants, who are part of the Capacity-Building Program coordinated by the researchers: 20 members of medical care staff and public health professionals from Cesar and La Guajira, and two participants from the former Veredal Zone La Paz.

In May 2018, the researchers held training courses for medical care staff in Bogotá, Riohacha and Valledupar.

The project “Improving the mental health of displaced populations to urban areas of Colombia” is funded by the Partnerships for the Health Sector in Developing Countries (PAGEL) programme of DAAD and supported by the CAPAZ Institute.
