Workshop on human rights, migration, and memory in Colombia at the University of Giessen

The German-Colombian Peace Institute – CAPAZ and the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) invite those interested to the workshop entitled “Human Rights: Migration and Memory in Colombia and Beyond” on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the JLU Giessen (Dekanatssitzungssaal des Fachbereichs 01 – Rechtswissenschaft, Licher Straße 72).

Colombian writer Laura Restrepo will participate as a commentator, together with JLU Giessen professor, Prof. Dr. Verena Dolle.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters, professor of peace studies at JLU Giessen and CAPAZ Academic Director will chair the event.

Researchers from Universidad de Antioquia and Universidad de Medellín (Colombia) and JLU Giessen (Germany) will join the event as speakers for two sessions on migration (in the morning) and the narrative production of memory to deal with the past (in the afternoon). In an international perspective, there will be a presentation on the path to reconciliation in Rwanda, Africa.

That same day, January 21, 2020, Colombian writer Laura Restrepo will take part in a conversation at the Giessen Literary Centre about her literary work.
